Walking around City Hall, Buildings and Grounds Supervisor Jeremy Polston can tell you why there are handprints on the wall, where the bell under the stairs comes from, and when officials placed the time capsule.
He recently celebrated his 20-year anniversary with the City of Fulton on Oct. 3, and describes the department as “jacks of all trades and masters of none”.
Jeremy and his crew are responsible for maintaining the city’s facilities.
“We mow grass, weed eat, [and] brush hog,” he said. “We do heating and cooling, plumbing and some electrical ... I love running the mowers and the tractors, but I would say my favorite part is working with my crew.”
Jeremy said the best part of the job is the people he gets to work with. He oversees a team of five people who work with every city department and knows the buildings better than anybody.
“I think a lot of people would be surprised how much ground our small department covers," he said. "When you consider the mowing and the brush hogging and the repairs, we take care of our own equipment.”
Outside of work, Jeremy loves music. He loves going to southern gospel and bluegrass gospel concerts and performing his own music.
“I also enjoy advocating for childhood cancer awareness when I get the opportunity. That’s near and dear to my heart,” Jeremy said. “That’s probably the gist of what Jeremy does outside of work; music and advocating for childhood cancer awareness.”
