Fulton’s annual roadway maintenance projects will begin in August and September. Crews will overlay six streets, lay a chip sealing layer on nine roads, and micro surface a section of Business 54.
The chip seal project will begin in early September. During this project, crews will spray a thin layer of asphalt and add a layer of chipped rock. The chip seal protects the road from becoming brittle and losing its ability to bend and flex. This year, the process will use smaller rock than in the past.
This year’s project includes:
Old Jefferson City Road from Cote Sans Dessein Road to County Road 306
Old Jefferson City Road from Cote Sans Dessein Road to Sign Painter Road
Old Jefferson City Road from Sign Painter Road to Westminster Avenue
Cote Sans Dessein Road from Old Jefferson City Road to Business 54
Collier Lane from Cote Sans Dessein Road to Business 54
Randall Lane from Glenstone Drive to Gary Road
Penny Lane from Cote Sans Dessein Road to Singer Lane
Julian Lane from Randall Lane to Singer Lane
Churchill Drive from Business 54 to Chestnut Street
The asphalt overlay project is scheduled to begin in mid-September. During the overlay, crews will lay an approximately 2-inch layer of asphalt to the existing road in order to prolong the life of it.
This year’s project includes:
Glenstone Drive from Dixie Avenue to Business 54
Hillcrest Street from State Street to Eighth Street
Manor Drive from North Bluff to the dead end
Washington Street from Business 54 to Chestnut Street
Wood Street from State Route Z to Industrial Drive
State Street from Fifth Street to Hillcrest Street
The micro-surface project will focus on Business 54 from the roundabout at Second Street to Thirteenth Street. Micro-surfacing lays a mixture of asphalt and aggregate. It provides a protective seal coat designed to extend the life of the pavement.
